In the United States, new documents belonging to Jeffrey Epstein, who was imprisoned on charges of establishing a sexual abuse and prostitution ring, have caused a major stir worldwide. The US Department of Justice has released over 3 million new documents to the public as part of the investigation into Epstein. It has emerged that these documents mention a name who could potentially replace Russian President Vladimir Putin.
THE NAME WHO COULD REPLACE PUTIN
In the documents dated January 11, 2012, the name of the then-Russian Duma member Ilya Ponomarev was mentioned. The document alleged that Ponomarev was "one of the main organizers of the uprising against the President." Furthermore, it included a statement suggesting that "if he is not killed, he could replace Putin and become president himself." These statements have brought to light a highly remarkable claim regarding Putin's political future.
According to the Russian press, Ilya Ponomarev, who received a residence permit from Ukraine in June 2016, became a Ukrainian citizen in 2019. Additionally, Ponomarev faces ongoing legal cases in Russia. The statements in these documents have drawn significant attention with comments questioning Ponomarev's political influence in Russia and suggesting he could be Putin's successor.
ZELENSKY ALSO MENTIONED
The released documents also include the name of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. In an email sent to Epstein in 2019, it was stated that Zelensky was "seeking help" and that Putin displayed a dismissive attitude by saying that Zelensky was "managed by the Israelis." These statements provided clues regarding the background of Russia-Ukraine relations.
WHAT HAPPENED?
Jeffrey Epstein was found dead in the Metropolitan Correctional Center in Manhattan, New York, in 2019. He was being held in custody on charges of sexually abusing dozens of girls under the age of 18 and creating a prostitution ring. In the investigations conducted after Epstein's death, US President Donald Trump, former President Bill Clinton, and other famous names were among those linked to Epstein.
The US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) reported that, as a result of its examinations, it found no evidence regarding Epstein's relationships with celebrities. Allegations that Epstein was murdered because he had established partnerships with government officials, business people, and celebrities were rejected by the FBI. The FBI concluded that Epstein committed suicide in his cell.
